Show BIGGEST COPPER MINE AT MACKAY GOES TO NEW OWNERS the holdings of the idaho metals company on the first of the month passed out of the hands of the receivers E W hovey president of the first national bank of mackay and J L bills superintendent of the company under an order issued out of the court of the sixth judicial district of idaho to satisfy creditors says the mackay miner the purchasers were A J andersen and W E narkaus of victoria B C who in turn immediately sold the property to the mackay metals a newly incorporated company with a capital stock of one million and a half shares of the par value of one dollar each the company is incorporated under the laws of the state of idaho with the change in ownership of largest producing copper mine W E narkaus has taken on the active management of the property and immediately upon his arrival following the completion of the sale set about to put the property in shape for operation and production along greatly extended lines property splendidly equipped the mines are completely equipped with a four mile gravity tramway of a thousand tons daily capacity a mill the first unit of which treats three hundred tons of ore daily compressor plants electric plant and other surface equipment with a group of claims that have for twenty years held the record as largest 6 copper producing property located four miles up the mountainside from mackay for a quarter of a century this property has been almost continuously on a producing basis the first ores mined were smelted smelter locally then the Gar fiield utah smelters shelters sm elters made attractive bids for the output on account of their fluxing flexing properties and the ores were shipped there for a dozen years finally the sulphide depths were reached and the product again became more valuable through local treatment and the new mill was installed in the old smelter building running for a couple of years intermittently deep tunnel to be extended the sulphide zone has just been tapped and very little explored and it is the intention of the officers of the mackay metals to at once inaugurate a deep development campaign which is well advanced by a mile tunnel started fifteen years ago on the 1600 foot level feet below the lowest lor workings kings where on the foot level the sulphide ore zone has as been tapped and from which has been supplied a mill feed eed foi a couple of years the ore reserves on the 1100 and other levels will provide a mill feed continuously while the lower levels are being opened up L R eccles of ogden utah has been the presiding officer acer of the idaho metals and also of the empire copper company mcany which prece proceeded eded the idaho metals in ownership |
