About fifty farmers met In tho UM Commercial Club Saturday evening and perfected tho organization of a local of tho National Farmers Society of Knulty. Following are tho officers elected: II. O. Webb, president; Lc-Hoy Lc-Hoy Davis, vice president; F. A Child, secretary, and J. T, Carlson, treasurer. Following tiro tho seventeen whose names will be sent In as tho charter members: U. O. Webb, Edward South, wick, J. T. Carlson, H. C. Lott, D. H I.ott, Lcltoy Davis, George Straus. berg, John W. Chilton, II. E Osterloh, Erastua Husson, Ellis DavlB H. C Comer, G. II Smith, Hyrum A, Ander-son.Tliomas Ander-son.Tliomas Jones, S. A. Smith and Oeorgu Southwlck. Another meeting will bo held next Saturday night at 7:30, in the Commercial Com-mercial club rooms, when more members mem-bers will bo enrolled and when 't Is expected thut some out side speukct will bo present. Thu Society of Equity is the only nutlon-wldu organization of farmers. It Is also the only state or court; organization of those who till the soli. All thu professional, business and industrial Interests and workers have their organizations, tho farmer:, b'clug the only onus without an organization or-ganization of some kind. The promoters hope, through organization, or-ganization, to get a higher price for their produce, and by eliminating some of thu middle men, to sell cheaper cheap-er to thu consumer. They also hope to purchase many of their Implements Imple-ments and supplies In wholesale and car load lots, and thus save much from tills source. It Is expected tl.ct all the leading farmers In this locality lo-cality will become enrolled, and that thu membership will at least b? doubled at the meeting tonight. o |
