Show FIRST AID MINE RESCUE CONTEST with a view toward still further stimulating the safety movement among the mines and metallurgical plants of the country a national first ald aid and mine rescue contest will be held under the auspices of the bureau of mines department of the interior at denver colorado august 20 and 21 mining teams from the principal mining companies of the country will participate and especially those teams of the west that were unable to attend the last national meet held last year at pittsburgh pa in which over a hundred teams took part the contest will be for the national championship in first aid and mine rescue work honors which are coveted by every in miners iners team bearn in the country national contest cups medals and prizes will be awarded to the proud winners vin ners these events will not only be notable in the movement for greater safety and efficiency in an industry represented by more than men but will also be the occasion for a general gathering of the representative men of the industry arrangements are now being made to hold at the same time and place the annual meeting of the rocky mountain coal mining institute the colorado metal mining association the american mining congress and other mining associations if these plans now in the making all carry the forthcoming meeting promises to be the greatest ever held by the mining industry of this country while in the first aid and mine rescue contest not as many entries are expected as participated in the pittsburgh meet together with the other mine interests involved the meeting will be one of great national importance D J parker in charge of the rescue work of the bureau of mines has immediate supervision over the arrangements for the national contests mining companies anywhere throughout the country that expect to enter are urged to get in touch with mr parker U S bureau of mines pittsburgh pa the contests will be decided solely according to bureau of mines standards and by judges thoroughly familiar with first aid and mine rescue work and with bureau of mines practice |
