Show ANOTHER OIL FIELD IN WYOMING dispatches of the announced that another and important oil field had just been opened in the northeastern portion of carbon county wyoming about fifty miles almost due south of casper and a similar distance east of the lost soldier field the information sent out states that the producers refiners refinery Re finers corporation has an uncompleted well that is flowing hourly by heads from a depth of feet and making better than barrels of oil daily it is located in section 7 26 79 and lies on a so called wildcat structure discovered by the companas comp anys field organization and named by the field forces after the superintendent of operations R E wertz and is known as the wertz well the new field is almost directly in line between the lost soldier pool in sweetwater county and the ferris district in carbon county at lost soldier a number of shallow wells have been brought in by the bair oil company controlled by hazlett ad aid west while in the ferris field producers and refiners refinery Re finers has brought in five producing wells and two gas wells and is operating a block of leases covering approximately acres an important feature of the new discovery lies in its depth the top of the pay being found in a broken formation after the drill had penetrated about feet in shale the fact that there is a flow of gas with enough force behind it to lift so large a column of oil feet would indicate that there is a big body of oil to feed from the pay sand has been barely entered and with deeper drilling it is expected that production will be greatly increased the oil tested 40 degrees on the baume scale and is supposed to be coming from the muddy sand which is the producing sand in the lost soldier and ferris fields for the storage of the oil is being installed near the well and rigs and tools for other tests are being moved in by the company which has little to fear from offsets as it has 1440 acres in the block on which the well is located the discovery is near the illinois pipeline running from ft steele to the lost soldier field and it is assumed that there will be a ready market for this oil |
