Show IDAHOANS HAVE RICH GOLD MINE allen alien G kennedy secretary and treasurer of the rae wallace mining alining company accompanied by mrs airs kennedy of wallace idaho have gone to visit the property of the company in the willow creek district alaska expecting to be absent about three weeks and possibly longer the company owns a group of claims which have been quite extensively ten developed making a large tonnage t of ore available for the mill that is now being placed on the property and which is expected to be in operation the last of this month the development of the property and the installation of the mill and other equipment is being directed by don S rae president of the company who was engaged in mining in this district many years ago and it was through him the rae wallace company was organized and most of the stock subscribed by coeur dalene men mr air kennedy will make a thorough inspection of the property and will have an interesting report for the stockholders upon his return high gold values based upon careful sampling and testing of the ore it is conservatively estimated that the rae wallace ore will average between 40 and 50 per ton the ore is free milling and the experience of other nearby mines shows that 90 per cent of this value is recoverable by amalgamation assays essays indicate that the ore may average much above this estimate A sample representing a width of four feet returning 1022 ounces in gold another representing six feet returned ounces and nine samples from various points under ground gave an average of ounces there is a continuous streak in the vein that averages about an inch in thickness that carries ounces in gold and which will substantially increase the average mill feed on the independence near the rae wallace with which mr rae was connected for some time the mill feed averaged the company has tons of ore or the dump A rich district A bulletin is issued aed t is year by the united states geological survey says the willow creek district is reached by wagon road sixteen miles from calissa station on the government overn ment railroad and fifty five miles from anchorage on the coast in giving givin characteristics te of the district the bulletin describes the veins as fissures in quartz diorite and adds that the geologic features are favorable for depth and permanence of gold content the region has not received the attention of prospectors or investors that the geologic conditions would seem to justify that difficulties in the way of development are being overcome and that at present the outlook is bright for a continued development of the region and a permanent camp with increased production the bulletin gives the production or of gold from the willow creek district for the year 1908 to 1918 inclusive at ounces in gold valued at the silver content during the same period was ounces valued at gibson mill for rae wallace A recent letter from mr aft rae states that he be has experienced much delay in delivering the mill and other equipment at the mine but that he expects to have the plant in operation this month the mill is a gibson in two units having a capacity of tons each the company is now using gasoline engines for all power purposes and this will be used to drive the mill the company owns a valuable water right which will later be utilized for power the directors of the rae wallace company are fred porter and H af child of kellogg john wood of gem A G kennedy of wallace and don S rae |
