Show operations AT CHERRY CREEK special correspondence cherry creek nev dec 9 the teacup mining company has taken a lease and bond on the holdings of the nevada star mining company and is putting the old star mill in shape for operations as fast as material can be secured the mill will utilize the oil flotation process and is designed to treat tons of ore on the dump at the mill which the old company considered as being too low in value to handle profitably but which under the present management and up to date methods of milling will be treated while the mine is being put in shape the tunnel being driven at the star under previous management to tap a body of ore opened on the surface is to be continued feet to open up the ore body it will also tap the teacup ledge if this tunnel develops the amount of ore expected an up to date mill of large capacity will be erected in the meantime ore is being taken out of the teacup by a small force and is being shipped A good strike of ore was recently made on the mary ann and development is being pushed bunk and boarding houses have been constructed at the mine the teacup has its boarding house running at the nevada star bunk house which has been fitted out with new equipment the company is giving employment to a force of twenty men the compressor is in shape to furnish air for the tunnel A short time ago ben harrison of cherry creek opened up a trench on a contract a mile from here on the trail of the exchequer mine samples of the ore going 33 ounces silver and 8 in gold to the ton this has caused some excitement in local mining circles the claim had been located years ago but had lapsed to the government in the same locality a considerable number of claims are being worked and ore bodies are being opened up every few days mining men representing large companies are here looking the ground over G P jones representing the exploration syndicate owning some large properties in other districts and which has a lease and bond on the mary ann exchequer and a number of other properties in the camp has been here several times lately As development will be pushed this winter on all claims showing signs of making good a revival of old times is looked for in the old camp which is encouraging considering the steadily advancing silver quotations since writing the above ben harrison has shipped a car of ore the teacup has put on two shifts at the nevada star tunnel and has started the dynamo which will furnish electric lights in the bunk and cook house shops etc while the compressor has been placed in commission |
