Show 0 THE COPPER CO the fact was noted in our last issue that the copper company whose property adjoins that of the lakeview Lake view on promontory point utah had been granted permission by the state securities commission to sell shares of treasury stock G D oconnor general manager states that his company is resuming development operations on the foot level in the shaft on the redfield claim and he expects to be hoisting ore in a few days A G burrier burrau says of the property this country has never been extensively prospected due to its being entirely covered by the beach gravels of lake bonneville and the surface showings which may exist in bedrock bed rock are not visible to the superficial observer on account of this condition the country rock is weber quartzite cut by fissures filled with quartz and highly ferruginous shale the geology consists of an ancient anticline caused by an igneous intrusion from below which however has not broken through to the present surface this anticline can be traced across the point from shore to shore and a series of related right angled and semi parallel fissures some of which exceed twenty five feet in width can be traced for more than two miles from their source which is the anticline above mentioned the company by systematic prospecting of these fissure intersections has proved that the ores segregate in chutes at or near these crossings the company has sunk a permanent prospecting shaft in the intersection of the largest north south striking fissure 22 with the largest of the east west striking fissures 42 where they had bad developed a showing of sulphide ores of copper on the surface with a prospect hole A drift was run from the sixty foot level of this shaft twenty five feet to the north which opened a streak of and a few inches in width and about twelve feet long it was evident that at this point the ore was just starting to form in place and the shaft was continued to the foot level from which point a drift is being put back to open this ore shoot found on the sixty the present face of th the e drift is highly mineralized and meta sed contains abundant pyrite and in the country rock quartzite with bugs lined with in the bottom of the face which consists of quartz porphyry an open crack in the left hand side about six inches in width leads in the direction the drift is being run and is open for six or eight feet beyond the present face as it can be fished in this far with a spoon this crack is lined with pyrite and and evidently leads to the belief that it is leading to tg a concentration of minerals which is in the immediate vicinity there is little doubt that ore in commercial quantities will be opened on this level with but little additional dead work with good gravel roads already established to the ore loading station only two miles away on the main line of the S P this company will be able to operate every day in the year as the winters in this region are mild and a fall of over a foot of snow is considered excessive |
