Show LITTLE cottonwood transportation J J beeson geologist for the emma consolidated soli dated mining company in speaking of tile the companas comp anys property at alta utah and of tile the hauling problems of that district has the following to say ore shipments are now in full progress from the emma mine eighteen wagons are now being loaded and with the present condition of the roads each team is able to haul more than three tons As the roads improve the amount will be increased to five tons with the present number of teams team s between sixty and seventy tons of ore will leave for wasatch today during the past week the number of teams have been gradually increasing and by tile the early part of next week there will be between twenty and thirty teams ernp employed loyed in carrying the ore from tile the mine to wasatch with this number there is no question that tile the emma production will reach a ton daily output in the early part of the coming week tile the pearson engineering company will soon have the narrow gauge rail railroad which is being built from wasatch to alta in such condition that they will be able to haul a part of the tonnage from a point about one mile above tanners flat to wasatch thus there are practically two independent roads from the mine to wasatch which will wil I 1 insure a steady transi transportation or tation of ores between these points the only problem which is now to be overcome is the transportation of the ore from wasatch to the smelter at midvale the mine operators in the little cottonwood have realized for some months that this problem would confront them when the summer hauling began unless steps sieps were taken to repair the branch line of the denver rio grande railroad which now connects wasatch with the valley smelters shelters sm elters the officials of the denver rio grande and also the interests which are now operating this branch line have been notified of the poor condition of this railroad a number of times and many promises to repair the railroad have been made but to date absolutely nothing has been done |
