Show in the alta cottonwoods d S fall in as coxey said to his army when it reached the potomac the alta consolidated celebrated the new year by falling in line with a strike of L great reat importance early in the present month and then followed ii ft up with another a week later at a point about feet from the first find from three to four feet of high grade galena was opened in a raise on oil the draine braine fissure at a point about twenty feet above the no 2 east drift and it is apparently making oft into the bedding the galena is sprinkled with silver bromides and chlorides and as says as high as 66 per cent lead per cent copper and ounces silver are reported the average of three feet was 1 25 per cent copper 32 per cent lead and ounces silver officials of the company of which A 0 jacobson is managing director state that this is undoubtedly the downward extension of the matilda INIa tilida ore shoot for which the east drift was being run the ore has since been opened on the tunnel level and has been beell drifted on along its strike a distance of fourteen feet at this writing the other strike reported was made in the same drift and at a point perhaps feet back of the first find here about three feet of copper ore is reported the albion also falls in line with a strike but its extent has net as yet been funy fully determined ter mined superintendent sol snyder reports that a raise on the con connor nor fissure has opened up about five feet of ore at a point twenty feet above the quincy tunnel level it is a copper sulphide showing some sil ver and gold the strike is at a point feet from the portal of the tunnel near the great water course that was cut last fall and gives a vertical depth of about 1300 feet developments of importance are expected soon in the drift which is being sent out toward the greeley fissure which is regarded as one of the most promising veins of the entire district an occurrence ot of greatest importance to the district is the financing of the michigan utah property by local ice al interests including A 0 jacobson V S snow and fred W price of salt lake and L R eccles of ogden mr jacobson is to be general man ager and henry barney who was superintendent of the cardiff when the big ore shoot was struck there is to be superintendent at the mine the plan of development calls for the immediate extension of the copper prince tunnel to the point where the lavinia and grizzley fissures intersect the black and white limestone contact where a body of shipping ore is expected the cleeves tunnel also is to be extended a recent strike on dizzley ley ground is to be de developed the aerial tram to tanners plat is tobe to be repaired an and its capacity increased and the property is to be equipped with already been let power drills A contract has work A recent prince tunnel on the copper operations on oll the property statement of leasing shows that tons of ore have been shipped since july 1st ast 1915 by leasers leaders lea sers of an average value above 20 net the property embraces nearly 1000 acres of ground the initial shipment of ore one from the sells inells property showed values of 3 per cent lead 77 ounces silver per cent copper 16 per cent zinc and 19 per cent iron giving a net value to the ore of a ton the second carload showed values aggregating about 32 per ton net early in the month a step fault cut out the ore in the drift from the east no 1 raise but a raise of thirty five feet and drift of twenty six feet opened it up again since which time it has been followed about thirty feet further this makes feet of drifting along the strike of this body practically all of which has been in ore the great amount of snow in the canyon has interfered with shipping to a certain extent and there is again a great amount of ore in the bins and stored in the mine but it is expected that shipments will be carried on fairly regularly from now on ore is reported in the east no 2 drift also at a point 1200 feet northeast from the portal of the main tunnel in a raise forty feet above that level the gells inells is another jacobson flotation and is under the manage ment of A 0 jacobson the strike recently reported off the main tunnel and near the no 2 in the property of the wasatch mines company under the management of 0 H gibbs is improving with development the first carl carload oaI showed averaged values of 67 ounces silver per cent lead and 1142 per cent cop I 1 per netting the company per ton another carload has been shipped and more is now being broken the company is ready to start work on its proposed foot tunnel for drainage and transportation which will be b e done as early in the sp spring as possible the south H hecla ecla under the able management of george watson A atson is is giving a good account of itself A large force of men is employed and the property is reported to be in excellent condition eleven a teams te am s have been kept busy hauling ore except for occasional cas ional interruptions caused by the deep deel snow and the average of a carload a day is being maintained the logger property in ill big cottonwood has been timbered re as the first feet were in dangerous condition the tunnel has just cut a promising vein at the foot point it showed as a seam in the roof but widened ol 01 out t as work progressed the dip carrying it downward until it is now a foot in thickness in the bottom of the tunnel the ore gives assay returns of ounces silver and 1647 gold 11 pe p cent copper this is the second rich V vein cut in t tho ho tunnel and dinzes are to be put down on tooth both at once it is reported that the miners of the mines development Coin company pany leasing on the property of the alta tunnel transportation por tation company Compa are sacking high grade ore for shipment the raise from the tunnel level to to connect with the already opened has been finished and the body gives promise of developing into an ail important ore shoot fred L is gen eral manager of the leasing company the mam main tunnel being driven by the alta tunnel transportation company p F v bodfish manager is now in over 1750 feet and is making good progress it is due to cut the copper fissure at any time now the famous prince of wales fissure is still about feet ahead the strong quartz fissure which the tunnel of the baker mining company has been following for about fifty feet now shows six inches of good carbon aee ore it being very similar to the ore showing in the big contact deposit on the surface and for which the tunnel is being run the bore has reached a length of practically feet it will give about feet of backs to the surface when the contact is cut superintendent L T Wake hani of the cottonwood king mining company has reported to is is parry of salt lake president of the company that the main tunnel on the property at a point 1210 feet from the portal and a vertical depth of feet has cut the cross fissure which was the objective of the work arhe report stated that both sides and the entire face of the drift were in ore showing values in copper silver and lead but at this writing no further report has been received A contact has been let to william nell neil by the directors of the reeds peak property situated near the cardiff Cai diff in the fork of big cottonwood for an additional feet of work this will give the tunnel a total length of more than feet and is expected to open the main north south fissure for which it is being run the stock of the company is held largely in paricity park city the cardiff opened the year with about t thirty five men on the payroll which force i it t was announced may be soon increased to f from fifty to eighty considerable ore is I 1 being shipped as many mally as twenty teams heing engaged in the sledding operations hut but the heavy snows of the past month have interfered greatly with this there is a possibility lity that the company may arrange for an outlet into little before next winter sets in it is probable that no dividend will be declared before spring though the company lias has the money on hand band this is because the season of the break breaking in 9 ap of the roads is approaching when it will he be impossible to ship any ore at all ill lew of the heavy expense of the regular aroll the company officials think it the aart rt of wisdom to keep the money in the masury for eventualities of hill the south hecla extension mining com 4 any y has been or organized anizel to develop a for ity acre tract of ground practically surround by the south hecla albion cottonwood cotton wood e lantis and peruvian groups the com in lany ny is incorporated for shares of par value of 10 cents each two shafts on the ground one twenty five and the other ten feet deep are zaid said to both contain ore the property will be developed through either the dwyer or tunnel of the south hecla mining company the following are the officers george H watson president and general manager herman bamberger vice president emil storer secretary and tred treasurer surer these with D W harcrow and H C edwards composing the directorate |
