Show 0 electrostatic MILL FOR AUSTIN reveille austin nev millard treasurer of the huff electrostatic Electro stale separator company and H P withington detail man for the same concern arrived in austin from boston the first of this week they are here to take the measurements and make detailed plans for the plant to be installed by the austin manhattan Consol consolidated dated mining company this plant will go into the mill building already erected at the foot of the grade the electrostatic plant will in no wise interfere with the use of the mill for the merrill system to come later for the huff process calls for a very compact plant which can be accommodated in a small corner of the mill which will not otherwise be needed it is anticipated that the huff process will replace or serve as a substitute for the crushing grinding and concentration portion of the derrll process in other words the tailings and from the huff electrostatic process will go direct to the merrill equipment for the huff process by electrostatic separation gives a considerable higher return by dry crushing and concentration specially designed machines than by any process through two stage wet concentration I 1 the magnetic separator has been de into an efficient machine which is economical in power both for operation and excitation of the magnets not liable to break down or get out of adjustment estment it is easily operated by anyone with the intelligence necessary to operate any of the usual concentrating machines and is not a source of large expense bills for repairs or renewals to sum the matter up the one difference diff er between specific gravity and magnetic separation processes is that one utilizes differences in specific gravities of the minerals to be separated and the other u utilizes til the differences in their magnetic per abilities me it has been ascertained by repeated trials on the austin ores at the plant or of the huff electrostatic separator company at boston mass that the very elements contained in austin ores that make water concentration upon them difficult are tile the selfsame self same elements that assist in magnetic separation and concentration by dry process accounting for at least ten per cent additional saving and at considerable lower cost |
