Show the lyndon mining company BY WILL C HIGGINS comet mining district nine miles west of if pioche as the crow flies is one of the most ost richly mineralized sections of the west notwithstanding ot withstanding this fact it has not received the attention at the hands of practical mining men which its undoubted merit reserves deserves es erves and for the reason that the former ni istance stance from market and railroad facilities las as kept it in the background now however ver with a railroad into pioche and the interest rest that is being taken in the mining industry astry of lincoln county more activity is bready noticeable in the comet district V the lyndon mining company owns a roup of nine claims in comet district this s an old property which has been productive I 1 of much good ore in the past and in he e workings of which there is now a show ng of fine ore such as would lead to the bejet ef that with more development and exi this mine should soon take rank as a regular and profitable shipper E F freudenthal of pioche the well known and successful mining man is general manager for the company and a heavy shareholder the lyndon in its development has feet of tunneling feet of shaft work and a great deal of underground work in the way of drifts and cross cuts and these workings expose ready for extraction a large amount of milling and a considerable tonnage of first class shipping ore on the passport claim of the company holdings a shaft has been sunk to a depth of feet the bottom showing six feet of ore in a twelve foot fissure which averages 10 per cent lead and fifty ounces in silver to the ton in the tunnel workings on the lyndon claim in the face of the he workings a two and a half foot breast of ore is exposed going 10 ounces silver and 15 per cent lead to the ton while three f feet of ore on the east side of the tunnel averages ounces silver and 11 per cent lead in an open cut on the droppings crop pings close to the porphyry dyke more than three feet of ore is showing which will average 22 per cent lead and ounces silver to the ton the company now has seventy five tons of shipping ore on the dump in the past ore to the value of has been shipped from the lyndon there is a large tonnage of excellent milling ore on the dumps the lyndon ore is a fine smelting smelling sm elting proposition the formation of the lyndon is lime cut by porphyry dykes the ore bodies making in the lime in contact with the dykes the lyndon is largely controlled by heavy chicago people who will begin extensive operation at once in mine development and operation and the mine is soon to be equipped with hoisting works |
