Show IDAHO wallace times the two new ro asters at the panhandle smelter at ponderay Pon deray are ready for work and it is stated that a second furnace will be blown in by the first of the year the management at the smelter is preparing to ship two more cars of bullion to the refinery at carnegie pa the plant is now handling about tons of ore a day and the manager states that there will be a large amount of ore from the northern part of washington and from montana mines to supply the second furnace mackay miner roy johnston left yesterday for the mammoth group the property of the progressive mining company with a big bill of supplies taking two men with him this was upon advises received from salt lake where mr weiler had conferred with some of the principal stockholders of the company both workings of the mammoth group show big breasts of ore and tha samples have assayed very satisfactorily the winters work is expected to put the property on a working basis by spring the progressive company is living up to its name as work has been carried on there ever since the ground was acquired and the work is proving the property to be a winner weiser american A E fox returned from the seven devils the latter part of last week where he has been the past two weeks engaged in surveying the route of the tramway from the peacock mine to the huntington lewiston railroad he also surveyed the underground i workings of the peacock mine mr fox said the tramway would be four and one half miles long the terminus would be at eccles bar several miles beyond homestead he states the boilers and machinery for sinking axe are being placed in position and operations in the shaft would be commenced in a few days the shaft will be sunk feet deeper A force of about twenty men are employed at the mine wallace press A splendid showing is being made at the property of the meadow mountain companas comp anys property adjoining the tarlton tarbox mine in the saltese maltese district A ear car of ore has all been sacked and is ready for shipment to the smelter but this is being held in the meantime mein time until there is a decided improvement in the lead markets in addition to the car of ore referred to there is a large quantity of ore on the dump and this will give an estimated average return of about sixty per cent lead and fifty ounces of silver to the ton in the upper workings a ledge of about 14 inches of solid shipping ore was encountered the property is owned principally by charles buls of wallace and associates it is a close corporation po ration |
