READY TO THROW DIRT Western Pacific c Contractors s sting Outfit Outfitting ting in Salt Lake and Will Vill Soon Move to the Westward Western Pacific construction at tills this end of the line will begin before the time end of the week probably during durin the latter half halt This statement Is based on ifor information information mation from contractors who are now making all preparations pr to begin throw throwing throwIng ing big dirt Camps are being gotten west of Garfield Tach r ach achIn In this work of preparation the Utah Construction company alone is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars and most of it in Salt Lake Equipment is hi being bought In carload lots Out along the ed line Une wells are being baing bored and water tanks built so that when the construction cams are established they the will have everything ready to proceed directly and without baIt with the work The rhe present fair weather is being taken advantage of by the tile contract contractors ors to rush things Breaking ground will probably begin just west of Garfield next Thursday or Friday In the meantime teams and men are being gotten gotton by those who will wUl have charge of ot station contracts In view of the fact that the contractors for the Western Pacific wiil will begin work on the Salt Lake end of the line Une within a few days and that most of or their end will be ho finished by spring it becomes of especial Interest to know the exact route which the grade will foU According to profiles supplied the Utah Construction company now being shown by b the company to subcontractors who are dally daily dall going over the line the route is ISas isas as Starting from Garfield the grade runs west passing about six miles from It strikes northwest after coming to the southeastern portion of the lake hake and runs to the topographical topo fea feature feature feature ture known as Hogback From there it runs to Low pass crosses the South des desert desert desert ert to the Toano range near the th south southend southend end of ot the X Desert range It crosses the Toano range ranse ran e through Silver Zone pass From Front there ther it goes on across the Steptoe valley vall passes through Flower Lake pass into Clover valley and down Clover valley valle to Wells on the Southern Pacific I
