Show Bond Election Presents Three Town Improvements For Vote Of Residents Bond Election Due On Water Line, Cemetery, Ball Field Notice ot a bond election on the $29,020 Dry Fork Water line will appear in next week's Issue of the Bulletin. Two other community improvements are to be voted upon the same time, a recreation center and beautlfica-tlon beautlfica-tlon of the town cemetery. The town's share of expense for the water line will amount to $18,-286, $18,-286, while labor expense, totaling total-ing $10,734, Is to be paid by WPA. Word was received by Mayor Ed Johnson last week end of approval of the Dry Fork water line by WPA. The project calls for a new six Inch cast Iron main 16,400 feet long from Dry Fork to Freeman's gulch. The estimated price includes new 50,000 gallon wooden water tank in Freeman. The water supply will be increased 20 per cent and the water pressure 15 per cent by the new pipe and water tank, engineers estimate. The board Is considering the removal of a water tank from Markham to Freeman. If this plan is carried out the cost of a new tank will be eliminated from estimates ot the town expense ex-pense of the project. Mayor Ed Johnson is confident that WPA aid dan" be obtained on worthwhile projects. To gave .expense of future bond elections the cemetery Improvements and recreation playground are being placed before voters for their approval along with the Dry Fork water line. Cemetery Problem Labor and supplies for piping water, for plotting, sodding and fencing the cemetery would cost the town 20 per cent of the total cost under WPA. A fee would be charged for plots lat the cemetery ceme-tery and in this way the cemetery ceme-tery would pay for its maintenance. mainten-ance. The cemetery has long been an eyesore. Mayor Johnson feels that the availability of WPA funds make immediate action highly desirable. Softball Field A recreation playground has the approval and support of the Junior chamber of commerce and the Bingham Business association. City Attorney Elliott Evans is investigating prospects of obtaining obtain-ing ground at thd rear of the Old Royal laundry. An excellent lighted softball field which may be also used for other recreation could be built at a $1000 expense ex-pense to the town. Logan, Tooele, Helper, Price, Spanish Fork and Richfield are a few of the Utah cities which hove found softball diamonds valuable community assets. : O |
