Show AM ORDINANCE ; Licensing and Regulating j Plumbers, anil for Other Purposes. Pur-poses. Section 1. Be it ordained by the I City Council of Salt Lake City, that no plumher ahall lay any service t pipe or do any kind of plumbing plumb-ing work, connected, or to be cod-, cod-, nected, with tho Salt Lake City Water Works, unless he ia licensed and gives bonds as hereinafter provided. pro-vided. Sec. 2. Application for a plumber's plumb-er's license shall be made in writing to the Mayor, and upon payment to the City Treasurer of a yearly license fee of five dollars, and giving a bond with approved security, to the acceptance accept-ance of the Mayor, in the penal sum of. five hundred dollars, conditioned lor ihe faithful observance oi the ordinances, rules and regulations, relating to the Salt Lake City Water Works, the Mayor is authorized to license such applicant, which license shall be issued and registered in the same manner as other licenses. Sec. 3. No plumber Bhall make an extension of any pipe or water fixture attached to the water supply, for tho purpose of conducting water to any other part of the same building build-ing or adjoining premises, for any purpose whatever, without first obtaining ob-taining a permit therefor from the ' Superintendent of Water Work9; and plumbers, upon completing any ( plumbing work connected, or to be ( connected with the water works, Bhall, within twenty-four hours, re- c port the same to said Superintendent, i Sec. 4. No stop or draw cocks ' shall be used in connection with the water works where the opening for a water is over a quarter of an inch b in diameter, except the kind known t as compression cocks. Slide valves B may be used to fill railroad or other tauks when a waste is not wanted, aud where the pipes are fl thoroughly protected from frost; also n for hose connections, or where a sep- h arate waste is used. lp Sec. 5. No telegraph pole, hitch ing or otuer post shall be set nearer than Bix feet to any gas main or service ser-vice pipe; nor shall any water service be laid within six feet of any gas service; and no gas or water service trench in any street, alley or sidewalk side-walk shall be left opeu during the night. Sec. G. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, or of the ordinances, rules and regulations, regula-tions, relating to tho introduction, supply and consumption of water from the Salt Lake City Water Woiks, shall, upon conviction, pay a fine not to exceed one hundred dollars for each oflence; and if the offender be a licensed plumber he shall, in addition addi-tion to such flue, forfeit hia license, which shall not be renewed for a term of thirty days.
