In the Tweed investigation in-vestigation Kelly said Tweed's con fession shown him by Townscnd and Fairchild, states positively that Tweed paid Winslow $200,000 for division among Woodiu and four other republican re-publican senators; also that he paid Hastings $20,000 for legislative influence; in-fluence; that Winslow told Tweed he had properly distributed the $20,000 and that Tweed has soma 300 checks paid by him to legislators. The attorney at-torney general did not give this information in-formation under pledge of secrecy. Andrew Garvey testified that he was friendly with Tweed; was a politician poli-tician in 1S70; knew of a pool to influence in-fluence the legislature ; contributed $o0,000 with tnc understanding that lie would get it back; paid a check of $10,000 to A. E. King and to James Iugersoll, who represented that Tweed needed money, an 1 said that $100,000 was to bo raised and taken to Albany.
