Show OLD MASSACHUSETTS. The nomination of Hon. Charles Francis Adams for governor by the Massachusetts democracy brings into prominence again one of the most remarkable re-markable and illustrious of American families. The Adamses have held in times past some of the highest positions posi-tions in the government, and there have been few generations from the revolutionary era in which their influence in-fluence upon public affairs has no been conspicuously felt. They are a family of statesmen, and Massachus etts has always been proud to do them honor. There can be little doubt of the election of Mr. Adams, and hia nomination may be the means of carrying car-rying the Tilden and Hendricks electoral elec-toral ticket in the state. |
