Alter the recess Charles Francis Adams was nominated for governor by acclamation. acclama-tion. Win. R. Flunkettof Putafield was nominated for lieutenant governor, govern-or, Edward H. Lathrop for secretary of state, Weslon Howland for treasurer, treasur-er, John E. Fitzgerald auditor, and iiichard Olvey for attorney general. Ex-Governor Gaston heads the electoral ticket. The resolutions adopted view with satisfaction the action of the late national convention at St. Louis; demand the payment in coin of the debt represented by legal tenders, as well us the bonded debt; denounce the republican party tor neglecting to carry out the tinancil policy for resumption; ask the people to entrust to the democratic party the accomplishment of tins vital need ot commerce; expre gratitude to the housa for its efforts to reduce ex penses, and its resolute inquiries into official maladministration; rejoice in the social order which is rapidly reviving re-viving prosperity and establishing cordial relations between the races in the south wherever democratic rule exists; denounce the republican party for mismanagement of affairs in the Freedman's bank, and declare it to be the duly of congress to Bee u re to the sufferers indemnity for their losses; declare the depreuion in trade and commerce is attributable to the misgovernnient of the republican party. The resolutions finally de mand a return from extravagance to simplicity and economy. |
