Show The I ii come Taxes ef Til den aud Hayes. New York, 6. The Herald's Washington special says: Since the publication of the action taken at the treasury department in regard to the alleged false reluans of income made by Tildeu, Representative Hewitt ot New York has addressed a communication com-munication to the secretary of the treasury, asking for all the tacts and official information had by the department de-partment in connection with the internal in-ternal revenue returns of both Tilden and Hayes, the two respective presidential presi-dential candidates of the democratic and republican parties. This letter has been referred to General Rauin, the c ommissioner of internal revenue. As Mr. Hewitt is regarded in the light of Governor Tildeu's special political Iriend and champion the department feels that there is a propriety pro-priety in responding to the request madn by him. |
