On tho opening of tho court this morning tho impan-nellingof impan-nellingof ajury in the Magu ire case was immediately proceeded with resulting re-sulting in the selection of twelve gentlemen gen-tlemen from the interior counties. They were closely questionod by counsel on both sides, .None had any opinion touching the guilt or innocence inno-cence of tho defendant, had no prejudice pre-judice for or against him. Major L. K-iton, special counsel for the government, govern-ment, then opened the cause with a statement of what tho prosecution expected to prove against the accused, lie stated that tho prosecution proposed pro-posed to prove that Maguire had knowledge of the existence of the ring, and that he expected a share of the ring fund, aud some other general matters. The commission of Maguire as collector of internal revenue ond iome other documents were then submitted, and tho court adjourned, i |
