Show The French senatorial elections have resulted in the general success of the moderate republican party, though there are various estimates given of tho strength of the several parties. The government claims a majority. The London Times estimate is as follows; Bonapartists, So; legitimists, legiti-mists, 55; and about 100 republicans. The moderate republicans triumphed in Paris. M. Buffet, the prime minister, minis-ter, failed to secure his election. M. Thiers and many of the prominent republicans have been elected. Gam-betta's Gam-betta's organ claims the election of 1G7 constitutional republicans. |
