In stead of having taken Kais, the invaders are said to bo withdrawing from before that city and also from other positions which thfiy had taken up. A report from the Danube is to the cffuct that tho Russians attempted to cross the rivor on the 9th at Ileni, and were defeated with considerable loss of lif, and tho destruction of the bridge which had been thrown over the river. But very little rout news, however, is obtainable at present, and it is difficult to judge how far the rumen received are entitled to credit. |
