Permit us, through your valuable and interesting paper, to roply to this lying correspondent, tor the fact of its being puhlishcd in the columns of the Tribune is sufficient evidence of its scurrility. Now for the facts in the case: The parly rr-ferre.l to by this lying scribbler, wh ) dares- not publish his name, was ywlleu up lor the heneat of the sick and not lor a "nick brother;" aud the young ladies had not charge ot ibu party nor its procwds, but M. Slack had tiie sole control. Toe proceeds ot the parly were $49, not $60, as ibtt liar asserts, and have I eeu distributed as follows: To C. Grainger, $U; to L Graves, -n aged widow, $o; to J. B .wyer, $5 Seven dollars and twenty five were p'tid lor music and lighip, and fl.7.75 were placed iu the atore, sub lect Lo the order of Mrs. Kleiumau, the president of the relief ao-cic-ty, for the bonefU of the sick and needy. Five dollars were ten ilered to V. W. Hammond, Lliu "sick brother,"' but lie .would o-t I accept ot it; hence the "proceeds dni not go into the pockets ot George SpiUbury uud Martin Slack, ft rat counselor and tithing clerk," neither were the sick -aints bilked. As officers of the Mercantile Coop thousands of dollars are deposited in our hands by gentlemen from Silver Reel and other places, who do not require re-quire the scratch of a pen.for security; hut who dare deposit money wit h the Tribune or its lying corps of correa-pondents correa-pondents ?
