In tbe Presbyterian assembly iu the aiternoon, tbe moderator mod-erator announced several committees, alter which the committee on benevolence benevo-lence reported that they were some what discouraged by uncertainty as to whether they would continue in existence, and recommended an immediate im-mediate decision of the subject. The question of Unconstitutionality of the synod's committee on benevolent work was discussed, but no conclusion was reached Tho assessment ol churches for the entertainment and mileage fund was made 2 cents for each member. The committee for the purpose nominated Iho third IVeebyterian church ot Pittsburg for the next meeting. The southern question again cams up and numerous speeches were made, and finally a voto was taken which resulted in the adoption of the amendment proposed to Doctor Rob intsou's substitute, 88 pasaud. It is that, while this assembly earnestly desires to be re united in closer relation rela-tion with the brethern, we do not feel it expedient at the present time to ttke any turlher action on the subject, excopi to declare that wa are ready crdialiy to receivg a representation irom and send a delegate to the assembly as-sembly whenever thuy indicate that L Liey are widiug to do so. The report on polity of the church was then taken up. It has already luen published, and refers to tbe court of appeals.. E'der Ely submitted sub-mitted a long substitute which, to-ni-tuer with tbe whole- subject, was relerred to the next assembly. In the- evening resolutions recognizing recog-nizing the valuable work of iho Young Men s Christian association, won adopted.
