Show , A Word of Warning. When Forepaugh's circus was here a year ago, a ewindling dodge was perpetrated which our citizens Bhould watch for this time and protect themselves them-selves against. We refer to a stand close to the circua, and we may say in front of the regular ticket stand, where a large sign was posted 'Tickets 'Tic-kets for Forepaugh's circus," and twenty-five per cent additional waa charged for the ticKets. Several complaints com-plaints were made to us after the circus left, and it appeared to the parties and certainly appears to us, that it was a Bide speculation of the company, under the wingofFore-paugb, wingofFore-paugb, and waa far from honorable. The impression waB conveyed that they were "reserved," but when the holder got inside the tent the re served" part was laughed at and tho suflerers, too. The speculation was profitable for a time, when public feeling broke up the ring, but it was only after a great many dollars had gone into the treasury. The circus folk are welcome lo all they can got honorably, but tricks like this should not be winked at by anybody. There will be a regular ticket effice, on the grounds, and we advise people to go there (or their pasteboards, and not invest in any Bide speculation. |
