Show AN ORDINANCE RELATDSQ TO EIGS5 A.SD AWNINGS. SectiOS 1. Be it ordained by the j City Cuuncd of Salt Lake City, That no awnioga shall be conetruc;ed on j aoy of the Bidewalks withio ibe limitd ol this city, except as hereinafter pro- j vided. All canva awnings herealter I constructed, shall be affixed to, and tuspended from tbe buildings, acd ball not project over the sidewaik to exceed len leet, no part of which hhall be lower man eight feet from tbe grade of the eidswalk. Sec. 2. All permanent awnings shall be constructed ths entire width of the sidewalk, tbe outside line of the posts or supports of which bLi1I beunilormly nineteea leet from the lineol the lot. All awniuga and all signposts sign-posts or sign -boards, of any design or : description, nowatanding on the side-waikB, side-waikB, or across thft sidewalks or water ditches, or on the streets outside out-side the water ditohns, within this city, exoept Buuh awnings aa have been permanently constructed according accord-ing to law or by permission of the City Council, or whicb are in accordance accord-ance with the provisions of thia Ordinance, Ordi-nance, are hereby declared obstructions, obstruc-tions, and ehall be removed within six months from the Hratday of June, 1S78. Sec. 4, Any person violating or failing to comply with any of the pro-! visiona of this Ordinance shall be liable to a fine of not to exceed niLety-nine dollars, or imprisonment not to exceed thirty days, or both. Any person failing to remove any of the obstructions named in thia Ordinance Ordi-nance within the time specified therein, Bhall be liable to a further fine ol five dollars for each aud every day that such obstruction bo remaina. Sec. 5. All Ordinances or parte of Ordioancea relating to signs and awnings awn-ings in conflict with thia Ordinance are hereby repealed. Passed May 21st, 1878. FERAMORZ LITTLE, Mayor. John T.
