Show Fire at the Beardsley Honse. Thero was considerable excitement in the city last evening over freely circulated rumors that the Union depot, Ogden, was on fire, but the ' following telegraphic dispatches re-c re-c ceived last night contradict the b reports. The first came over the 1 VVesiern Union wires, the next by 3 the Deseret line. There is such a f wide difference in the reading of the t dispatches that if the Beardsley Hous 1 were not mentioned in both, one . would think that two fires had 00-1 00-1 curred in the Junction city. The facts will probably be received to-day and in the meantime the reader is at liberty to select which of the dispatches he will believe : Ogden, 24. A fire broke out about 7 p.m. in the Beardsley House, caused by the bursting of a lamp. A largo crowd of citizens came to assist in extinguishing the fire, and by hard work it was put out. Damage about SI, 000 to the house and furniture. Ogden, 24.. This evening, about half-past bix o'clock, a fire broke out in the Beardsley Hotel, Ogden depot. Damage, about $500. Caused from a stove pipe. |
