Show DELINQUENT MINING ASSESSMENTS- The Fobruary delinquent list on twenty - nine mining aasoBsmonta amounts to $864,230, or nearly three times the amount delinquent in February of last year. In regard to somo of these companies, the Bulletin Bul-letin says: Tho Caledonia niino has levied ten assessments in all, and the aggregate is $500,000; but it has never paid a dividend. Tho California &, Arizona mine is in Mohave county, Arizona territory. The Combination gold mine is in the Panamint district, and is an old claim, having been located lo-cated in 1871, but somo of the men employed were killed by the Indians, and work has been suspended until recently. The Daney mine has impoverished im-poverished more people than it has enriched. This is the twelfth assessment, assess-ment, and the total is $216,000. In the old shaft a pocket was struck from which 56,000 was paid to I stockholders. At that time the Daney mine was on the popular I wave, and everybody thought it would outrival all other tlaima in the amount of dividends. Unfortunately tho pocket suddenly pinched out, and the entire subsequent revenue of the mine has come from the pockets of the shareholders. The Edith quicksilver quick-silver mine is in California, and this is the second assessment levied. The mine, wo believe, has good indications. indica-tions. Th El Dorado South Consolidated Con-solidated mine is in eastern Nevada, and this is the fifth assessment, the total being $237,500. The Enterprise Enter-prise Consolidated mine ia in Calaveras Ca-laveras county, California, and this is the first time it has asked for aid. Tho Equitable tunnel mine is in Utah territory, and this is the ninth assessment. Tho Golden Chariot mine is ' in Idaho territory. The recent management of this mine has discouraged its Btaunchest friends. This is tho twelfth assessment, aggregating ag-gregating $555,000, and a good portion por-tion of the sum has beon collected within tho last few months. The mine bag paid $500,000 in dividends, the lost one being in October, 1873. The Hale Sc. Norcross mine has levied lev-ied forty-five assessments of $1,530,-000, $1,530,-000, and has paid $1,590,000 in div-deuds. div-deuds. Tho mine has therefore barely paid for itself. The Hosloo Mill mine ia in Mariposa county, California, and this is tho third assessment, as-sessment, but we do not know the aceree-ate amount. The Iowa min ing company have just increased the number of shares from 30,000 to 90,000, and the revenue from assesa: menta will hereafter be augmented. The Justice mine has levied thirteen assessments, and tho total is $536,-500. $536,-500. The Lady Bryan mine has once petered out altogether, leaving nothing but paper promises behind. This is the fifth assessment, and the total is $150,000. The claim contains con-tains 6,000 feet, and will probably be divided into two mines. The Mahogany Ma-hogany mine paid one forced dividend divi-dend of $15,000 in August, 1S72, and i-.no levied fiftooa uoacaaLuents ot $140,0UU. "The Mint mine has never coined anything for stockholders, though they have left with it $50,-000 $50,-000 in nine instalimenta. The Pinto mine is in eastern Nevada, but the number and amount of assessments are not known. The Pioche west extension mine is in the same district dis-trict as the preceding claim, and has levied six assessments of $06,500. The Poorman mine iB in Idaho territory, ter-ritory, and has called twice upon the stockholders, once for $25,000 and now for $50,000. The Prussian mine has lovied three assessments, but we do not know the aggregate amount. The Raymond & Ely mino paid $3,075,000 in divideads up to September, 1873, and has since levied lev-ied three assessments of $90,000 each. The Rock Island mine has made six appeals for aid, and the total iB $132,-000. $132,-000. The Silver Cord and South Chariot mines belong to that interesting inter-esting group in Idaho previously referred re-ferred to. The former has levied seven assessments of $102,000, and the letter has levied twelve assessments as-sessments of $275,000. This is the first assessment ot the Silver West consolidated mine. The 4,20 mine has levied nine assessments assess-ments and the Utah mine eight, the latter amounting to $140,000. The (Wyoming mine is in Nevada county, California, and it is the fifth time I that stockholders have been reminded jof that fact by the secretary. I is noteworthy that only twelve out o. the Bixty-sis mines having assessments assess-ments delinquent in January and Fibruary have ever paid dividends. Tie cessation of the Belcher and Ciown Point dividends this month mikes it all the more difficult to mid these demands for experimental work. |
