The committee struck out the entire amount of $71,-000, $71,-000, voted by the house for payment of increased sultry to letter carriers, for Ihe current fiscal year, under the recent sisnifi cation nu'.horizjd by tbe act of last February, and reduced re-duced the amoJiit of $110,000 provided pro-vided by tbe house for payment aud increased salaries acd extension of the free delivery service (or the next fiscal year, to $400,000. The committee have added to the deficiency bill the sum of $100,000 to pay judgments heretofore rendrrod by the court of claims and npprooria lioni, $15,000 to ouable tho general laud office to adjust and Ptttle stale claims for swamp lane's. The last two amendments wore ofiered by Senators Rollins and Cockrell, respectively, to the legisUtivo and executive appro prialion bill, but then failed of adop lion. |
