Winder, assessor aud collector, col-lector, by communication, said tbit the new revenue act gave additional powers to assessors and collectors, and suggested that the city council create a new ordinance relative to the duties of tbe city assessor and collector. Received Re-ceived and referred to the committee on municipul laws, with inttiuctiom to draft an ordinance adapted to the situation, and that tbe ueseesnr and collector and city attorney aid the committee in draiiiDg said ordinance. It was moved and carried that, when framed, a sufficient number be printed for tan use of the members u! the council. The committee on BtrecU and all eye, to whom waa referred-the p i tition of C. Colehrook, with regirii to graveling road ai head of East Temple ttreet, recommended that the petition ne granted and the supervisor instructed in-structed accordingly. Report adopted adopt-ed and recommendations ordered. The report of tnc police court for the month of February was presented, which showed as follows: Cash fiueri, $361.50; back fines collected, $150.25; total, $511.75; labor, $ 259 00; number num-ber of caees tried, 60. Referred to tbe committee on police. Marshal Burt presented the report of txpenBes connected with his office for the month of February, which included for general expense account, printing, stationery, etc., $232 17; city prison expenses, $75.10; police account, detective service, eto., $G. Report received and amount appro priated. Chief Engineer Ottioger presented bill of expenses for tbe fire depart-. depart-. ment, ealary of assistant, merchandise, merchan-dise, repairs, coal, etc., amounting in all to $150.85. Bill accepted and ameunt aopropriated. Bill of William Hyde, for boaidiDg city prisoners, 1,869 meals at 15 ceute, $280 35, was allowed and amount appropriated. Bill of Dr. 8. B. Young, for care of three insane patients, twenty eight days at 85 cents a day, $71 40 was allowed and amount appropriated. Bill of Halt Lake city gas company, for 222 street lamps, one month at the rate of $60 per annum, $1,110, and gas bill fur city hall, prison and firemen's ball, $106 40. in all $1,216. 40 was allowed and amount appropriated. The police bill, salaries of eight policemen for tbe month of February twenty-eight days at $4 per day, $112 each, equal to a total ol $S9G. was received and tbe amount appro priated. Bill of W. G. Goforlh, for services at city ball, $30, was allowed. Bill of W. E. Hyde, for servicra as watchman at water tanks aud for bgliting oil lsmpa, $60, was allowed. Bill of W. R. Aditins, for eighteen and one half days work on Union square, $37, was allowed and atuouut appiopriated. Bill Ol W. G. Goforlh, for collecting dog tax, $19, was allowed and amount appropriated. A description ol the real estate owned by the city and held a pubito g.i unds, buria l plarrs, etc., was ask id for by Councilor I. H. Smith, also information with regard to the title to certain of the property. The request for the information van referred re-ferred to the commiitee on public grounds. The recorder reported that the appropriation ap-propriation for contingent for salaries u r the past year was all exhausted.
