Show Thealre. The audiru.-e at the thealre last evening was not so large as we aro safe in saying will allHiid to night, tbe excollnncn of the entertainment warranting the ap rtion. Those who were in the auditorium last oigH were highly delighted with tho piece, the aolurs ard the acting, and particularly par-ticularly so with Uncle ;Josh Mr. Denman Thompson whose irresistible irresisti-ble humor, natural boaring and eay movements took everybody by agree able surprise. He is an artist of a high order and has merited the many encomiums received from the press of the country. HU acting ia most agreeable, and while tbe audience laughs for one moment they are called to sympathize with tbe actor in the portrayal of his sadness at another. The acting oi Yankee Locke was a rare exhibition of the genuine Aoieiioan, and elicited frequent laugh tor and applause Miss Wilson, as Tot, won the hearts of all present. Her delineation of the character was real and lifelike. The support throughout was excellent. excel-lent. The plot is capitally worked up and carried out, and the interest ii maintained from first to last. . There ; were no "sticks," no "hitobes," no "waits;" everything moved smoothly, gaod humored ly and satisfactorily. The general verdict last evening was that it was a first-class entertainment and a big success. Thia evening the pieoe will be repeated, re-peated, when we look for a crowded house. |
