Show The Cotton Mtrlke. London, 23. A telegram from Manchester says: It is calculated that there are between 80,000 and 90,000 operatives on a strike in Lancashire, about 40,000 being weavers. Most of the mills were open this morning so ibat operatives could commence work if tbey chose, but none in the strike resumed. A mass meeting of opera-lives, opera-lives, numbering 7,000, was held at Burnley this morning, and a resolution resolu-tion was adopted to the effect that they should refuse to work until the notices of reduction were withdrawn. A small minority opposed the motion aud proposed compromise. |
