The people, etc., vs. Richard Lowry; indictment for embezzlement; on trial by the jury; district attorney Carey for the prosecution, Burmaster and Toohy for the defense. Witnesses wore examined on both sides. The jurv returned a verdict against defendant of guilty as charged in indictment. The court sentenced the prisoner to two months' imprisonment, and to pay a fine of $20. At the request of the prosecuting attorney the court afterwards after-wards remitted the tine. The defendants bbiog in impecunious circumstances tho court appointed Burmester and Toohy to act as counsel for them. The case will proceed to trial on Friday morning. morn-ing.
