The settlers will Btnd a party of twenty-five out in the morning to ascertain the whereabouts and direction taken by tbem. The courier also reports that the hostilea have Btolen nearly 250 horses within the last three days, sixty four of them on Republican river. Cheyenne, Wyo., 3. It ia understood under-stood at North Platte that Gen. Carr, at Fort McPheraon, haB notified the ranchmen iu that vicinity that the boetilea have been fighting settlers on Red Willow creek, directly south of the North Platte, and he is of the opinion that this band will come up and attempt to cross the railroad near Brady island. If this is tbe case, this band is aepnrated from that one which left Republican river last night, who were ail mounted on fresh ranch horses, stolen at that place, and are now only thirty milea south of tbe line of ra.lruad at Ogallala station. |
