Show Catholic Benevolent Cuion, Baltimore, 24. In the convention of the Irish Catholic Benevolent Society So-ciety to-day, resolutions were adopted adopt-ed that children of members of State Unions needing the protection of the general Union be placed in the Catholic Cath-olic protectorate ot each diocese, and cared for as wards of the Union; that it is advisable now to encourage Irish immigration to this country; that Catholic schools be promoted; that lyceums bo established in each local society of the Union, and that the Sth ot December be recognized as the national holiday of the Union. Mayor Keiley of Richmond was unanimously elected president, and an executive committee of immigration immigra-tion was appointed. The convention adjourned to meet in Rochester On the 3d Monday of October, lS7o. |
