A private letter from St. PieiTQ Miquolou gives an account of a horrible tragedy which had taken place at the settlement of Indian Tickel, Labrador, on the night of the 15th inst. The victims were two families named Morrison, numbering num-bering nino persons, only one ol whom, a girl, escaped. It seems of late that gangs of Esquimaux Indians had been committing robberies oi hatri aud shoes, and alter the capture ot several Indians they wtre publicly chastised by whipping. The Indians sought revenge, and on tlie night of the 15th visited tho dwelling of the Morrisons and phot and stabbed to death eiuhtor nine persons residing there. One Indian was also shot. |
