Show Bingham Canyon Railroad. The following figures exhibit the amount of freight transported over the arrow gauge railroad during the month of pseernber, as shown by the agent's books at Bingham Junction: Junc-tion: Down freight, received, 2,149,160 lbs; Up " Ibrwarded, 2,020,671 lbs. This business wan done with but one locomotive, which was also required re-quired to do the necessary switching, and making up of all trains in addition to making two round trips each,..day over the line ot the road-: Considering the season bf 'the year and the general dullness ol "business, the above showing must be considered exceedingly, gratifying to the persevering and plucky gentlemen gentle-men who have pushed this enterprise to completion, through the stringent money panic of the past ninety days, as being indicative of the large and profitable business this road will undoubtedly un-doubtedly have when the smelting furnaces ugaiji start up, and the shipments ship-ments of ore from the numerous productive pro-ductive mines of Bingham again com mences." A new engine has just been added. to .the "motive power of the road, and the third locomotive and filly more freight cars are being built, and will soon bo here, ready to do the business it is expected will be offered. The passenger business of the road is aLo much better than was anticipated, but it is not a half that it will be next summer; for-the steady improvement -in the productiveness of nearly all the mines that are being systematically worked in Bingham' canon will necessarily neces-sarily result in a largely increased amount of travel in the future." |
