Indeed, s-j quietly did i; pass ofl that at the polls no crowds assembled as-sembled and no unusual interest throughout the town Wi.s excited. There was no challenging of votes, and the light tuss of the vote cast indicates in-dicates that only those exercised hi- thai rtifii'X aUo !--l nothing else to do. .There was comparatively com-paratively no scratching, the peoples' ticket, straight, being voted. The liberal ticket did not appear iu some ol the precincts, and in others there were so few of them that one is led to believe that the party has gienup the cauae, and concluded that it is useless to contend against such oppo sition.
