All things taken into consideration this is a very fair showing, and indicates that the interest in the cause of education edu-cation is taking deep root throughout ihe territory. The proceedings yesterday were conimenced by Prof. Riggs, territorial school superintendent, delivering an address of welcome, :uiJ stating the objects of the institute, which was then placed under the supervision of Dr. Park. Prof. M ies?r britib indicated the plan he would adopt iu imparting instruction in-struction on the theory and practice 0: teaching. Prof. Coyner followed with a lecture lec-ture on " How shall we teach Arithmetic Arith-metic ?" Mis Delia Snow ut-xt delivered an interesting lecture on oral grammar; M:ss R. M.
