The board of Aldermen Al-dermen to-day unanimously adopted the lollowing: " Whereas, this com-' mon council has learned with the most profound Borrow of the death of ex-President Johneon, and as the sadJ uvent is one that should call forth a proper expression of the aentiments and ttelings of the common council, the representatives of the people of this city, in view of tho exalted character char-acter and public services of the deceased de-ceased patriot and statesman, therefore, there-fore, be it resolved that a special committee com-mittee ol three members of this board be arpt'iimed to prepare and present resolutions exmvsive of the reuret of I the people of this city at the death of the illusirioHs deceased, and to take such other and appropriate action as to them may appear best calculated to manifest our sorrow lor the death and respect for the memory ol the deceased ex-president of- the United States.". |
