Mr. Wooflrufl', Irom the Committee on Chiinas and Appropriations, reported re-ported favorably upon the petition of B. A. M. Froiseth, asking for an appropriation ap-propriation of $1,000 to enable him lo gut up an improved map of the Territory, and recommended the passage of the Houae bill tor an ant appropriating tsaid amount. Said bill was taken mi and nnsapd. A communication was received from the House, aaking the concurrence concur-rence of the Council in a resolution lo instruct the Public Printer to publish, pub-lish, in pamphlet form, 300 copies of the reports of the Territorial and County officers, and such other documents docu-ments as the Secretary of the Territory Terri-tory is not authorized to pay for. The Council concurred. Mr. Young moved for a committee com-mittee ol conference to be appointed lo confer with a like committee from the House on the subject. The President Pre-sident appointed Messrs. Young, Came and Stayner said committee. A communication w;is received from the House announcing the" passage pas-sage of "An Act in relation to District Dis-trict Attorneys." Mr. Smoot, pursuant to notice, presented pre-sented a bill tor "'An Act to incorporate incorpor-ate the City of Salem." Referred to the Committee on Municipal Incorporations Incor-porations and Townsites. Mr. Harrington from the Committee Commit-tee on Judiciary, reported back, amended, "An Act amending an Act in relation to Marshals and Attorneys," Attor-neys," nnd recommended its passage as amended. Tho bill was slightly amended, passed, and Bent to the House fur its action. Mr. Hooper, in consequence of ill-hsaith, ill-hsaith, asked to be excused from acting act-ing as Chairman of the Committee on Incorporations. On motion of Mr. Woodruff, he was excused. , Mr. Thatcher presented the petition peti-tion of Thomas Howard and 39-t others, residents of Salt Lake county, praying for the enactment of a more efficient and thorough law on educational educa-tional matters. On motion of Mr. Woodruff, the petition was referred to the Committee on Kdueation. A communication was received from the House announcing the passage pas-sage of "an Act defining the qualification quali-fication of, and the mode of selecting and summoning grand and petit jurors," with amendments. The bill as amended was read and the amendments amend-ments were concurred in. Mr. Peacock presented a petition from Amasa Tucker and 37'2 others, citizens of Sanpete county, praying that $2,500 be appropriated for build ing a road in Spanish Fork canon. Referred. - Mr. Pace presented the financial report of Iron country for the yeana 1S72-3. 'Referred. Council bill foi "An Act defining the qualifications of and the mode of selecting grand and petit jurors for the District Courts," was taken up on its second reading; amended", 'and on motion of Mr. Thurber passed. A communication was received from the Council -announcing the passage of tli House bill appropriating appropriat-ing $1,000 to B. A. M. Froiseth, 'to assist as-sist in defraying the expenses of publishing pub-lishing a revised mnp of the Territory; that the Council had concurred in' the j J luuse motion authorizing the publication publi-cation of certain reports; and that i Messrs. Young, Cainc aud Slayner had boen appointed a conference committee oil the prt of the Council to confer with the House committee on memorial to Congress, praying for an investigating commission for Utah. Messrs. Rowberry, Taylor, Mann and Wright wore appointed the-House committee to confer with the above. A message was received from the Council announcing the passage of the bill for "An Act amending the 'Act in p.iaf.;Qn to marshals and attorneys.' at-torneys.' " '' .
