There was a meeting of the Regents of the University of Deseret yesterday afternoon, at which various committees commit-tees were appointed and considerable business was transacted pertaining to the interest of that institution. The evident determination of the Chancellor Chancel-lor and the board of Regents ia to make every necessary provision for the maintenance of a first-class institution. in-stitution. Competent teachers are now engaged, the University building and grounds will be placed in thorough repair, a .comprehensive University library, to be kept open l-om 4 till 10 o'clock during every evening of the collegiate year, is also al-so provided for, and new branches of education, including general and analytical chemistry will he taught. It is the intention of the Regency to afford such facilities for securing an education in this institution as to preclude pre-clude the necessity of sending our youth out of the country to be educa- |
