But the worms which a few years ago discouraged the fruit-raisers fruit-raisers of this city are again numerous and have rendered almost unfit for use a large share of the fruit products. Among the apples this is more particularly parti-cularly the case. They appear to grow iu tho core, as in many instances in-stances wc havo noticwl there ia not the least particle of indication on the outside of their presence inside. And 1 these apples are often plucked from uic ircei anu given mj uunureu wj Now this is dangerous, as children arc not supposed to know the restUt of eating a few of these worms. In many cases seriaus results have followed, fol-lowed, heretofore. Care should be taken to cut the apple in (wo and remove every sign of these grubs be- fore allowing your IHtle ones to bite at all. Considerable of the aflected fruit can be saved by tho process of slicing up, throwing away the diseased dis-eased parts and drying or otherwise preserving what is left, which appears to be the only way of saving any of the apple crop for Winter use. |
