Show The Turf. j Yesterday afternoon, at 2.30 p. m., , the deciding heat of the race between s. g. " Tyler" and b. s. "Charley" was trottal. Previous to the heat it rained and hailal most terribly, which made the track anything but pleasant , , for the drivers. Between the showers j the horses were called up nnd started : very evenly. Shortly after leaving 1 the score the bay broke, and appeared ap-peared entirely too rank to keep his feet for any distance. The sorrel never made a skip in the heat, and came in ahead, thus winning heat, raco and money time, 3.2-1 On Saturday next there is to be a running race, half mile heats, for $000, between "Charley" nnd nj " Pinto." " Charley " hits already had two or three races, but this " Pinto" is a new candidate for favor fa-vor hereabouts. Being unknown to us wo arc entirely in the dark as regards re-gards his powers of speed and endurance, endu-rance, but he will be compelled to keep moving if he throws the dust in "Charley's" eyes. Col. Dickey also gives a purse for all pacers and trotters, trot-ters, to go to wagons or harness, the nearest to three minutes to take the greenbacks and the honors. |
