They are packed in three birrel.-, and the epeeinnns are duly labeled as commercial simples would be. In barrel No. 1 are: First specimen, Ltah granite, tuch as is used in the e tn.-truction of the Temple; second, red -and stoni ; third, fire ttotie, fourth, Utah maibV; Gl'th, Utah fire brick, made ffoi pccimon.- third and sixth; niltli, fi.-e clay; seventh, specimens from the Seocia mine, running 1 cz. gold, SO oz. eilver, and 70 per cent, lead; eighth and ninth, specimens of ore from the Eureka and Susan mines; tenth, eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth, specimens from.the Mammoth Copper-opolis Copper-opolis mine, carrying twenty-five, thirty, fifty, and fifty-five per cent, of copper; fourteen, from the same mine, carying $75 gold and $ j0 silver; fifteen is a specimen from the Mc Henry mine, Parley's Park, assaying $1,200; sixteen, coal from the Weber river; seventeen, coal from the Sevier river; eighteen, a specimen from the Eureka mine, carrying 300 oz. of silver; ninc-I ninc-I teen, a f pec i men from the Vallejo mine, carrying IliO oz. in silver and 62 per cent, lead, twenty, ore from the Matilda mine, no assay accompanying; twenty-one, Iteed & Benson ore, carrying carry-ing 500 oz. of silver and 65 per cent lead; and twenty-two, ore from Bru-ner's Bru-ner's North Star, assaying 56 oz. silver and 70 per cent. lead. Barrel No. 2 contains : Specimen twenty-three, iron ores from Iron county, Tooele county and" Cache county; twenty-four, Mountain Tiger ores, carrying $600 in silver and 72 per cent, lead, and $4,61S in silver; also from the Rockwell, assaying $175; from the Silver Chief, assaying $225; from theZella, assaying $350; and from tho Eldorado, of Big Cottonwood, and tho Brother Jonathan and Live Yankee, of American Fork; twenty-five, is salt from the salt mountain. and salt as it is shoveled up on the shores of Salt Lake; twenty-six is from the North Star Silver Mining Company, of Toronto, Cicada. Star District, ore from the Hickory mine, assaying 1,000 oz- of Bilrcr, from the Oakland mine, assaying 100 oz. of silver and 17 per cent lead, and from tho Mountain Queen- assaying 240 oz silver, and 5 per cent lead ; twen! ty-seven, WinRmuck ore, assaying 225 oz. silver and . 50 per cent lead ; twenty-eight, ore from tho Miner's Delight, carrying 400 oz. of silver' twenty-cine is from the North Star Company, of Toronto. Canada, Star District, lleineer Mine, assaying 80 or. silver and 2'J percent lead thirty, thir-ty, ore from the Tolarie mine, Bingham, Bing-ham, carrying 50 cz. silver and 60 per cent lead ; thirty-one, specimen from the Utah Queen, Dry Canyon, assaying assay-ing 3100 oz. silver ; thirtj-two, Evening Eve-ning Star ore, same canyon, carrying 500 oz. bilvcr, and 52 per cent lead ; thirty-thrjc, seven pieces from tho Mona mine, Dry Canyon, carrying 7,000 oz. silver, and a box of sulphur; hiitj -four, box of ore from tho Miller mine, American Fork, carrying 60 oz. silver, 11 of gold and 65 per cent, lead, with Lucky Boy oro and yellow sulphide of arsenic; thirty-five, thirty-five, ore from the Chicago mine, Dry Canyon, assaying $52 in silver and 40 per cent, lead ; thirty-six, specimens from tho Clipper mine, Tooele district, dis-trict, assaying 300 oz. silver and 50 per cent, lead; thirty-seven, ore from the itooty mine, star cust noncarrying 40 per oent. oopper ; and thirty-eight, ' specimens from tho Ontario mine, carrying 200 oz. of silver. The third barrel contains: specimen number thirty-nino, package of cotton yarn grown and spun in Utah; forty, a sack of Utah flour; forty-ono, bar of silver and bar of lead from tho Ger-mania Ger-mania smelting and refining oompany, specimen of bismuth carrying 50 per oont., specimen of Utah "wheat from tho farm of general 11. S. Eldrcdgo, and a bar of load made in 1852, marked "Minorsville;" forty-two, Emma ore; forly-throo, Davenport ore; forty-four, Utah views by O. li. Savage; forty five, ores from the Bully Boy and Webster, Sovior, assaying SiSOO; forty-six, forty-six, raro specimen of lead contributed by major Wilkes; and forty-seven, horn silver. Tho foregoing list of specimens shows that the varieus oommittees havo bestirred themselves, and that the thanks of tho publio aro duo Messrs, Lawrcnoo and Selby for tho energy they havo manifested in this matter. There is no doubt that Utah will be tho best represented in minorals of any part of lho United States, at tho Vienna World's Fair. |
