Show I'X SITIGATBD BOSH. Editors Htrahl: The following I find in the Omaha "Bee" of a late date, which I clip as a specimen of the boih and stupid lying the public is asked to believe iu the connection referred to: "It is well known that her husband, Mr. Stcuhouse, published 'The Telegraph,' Tele-graph,' the first daily newspaper in Salt Lake, for five years. The Sten-house Sten-house family, through this journal, became be-came wealthy and powerful; but when an article, written in a liberal manner, and boldly denouncing the attempt of Biigham Young to reduce the wages of tho workingmen, appeared in tho paper, the ruin of the ed tor and proprietor pro-prietor followed. The paper, of course, was suspended, sus-pended, and financial ruin came, and personal persecution followed, and it was such that its objects would rather have died than to havo undergone its horror " There is no need to comment on the foregoing- None will appreciate the point so well as thoso who know the facts in connection with the "wealth" and "influence" of tho aforesaid, and the "workingmen" who had the utmost ut-most difficulty in getting wages for their work, after the wages had been pared down to the lowest notch, while bis attempt to cut them down still lower caused tho organization of the typographical union in Salt Lake city. If much more of this kind of stuff is published, those thoroughly acquainted with the facta may feet called upon to give a few of them to the public. Typo. Salt Lake City, Oct. 15, 1872. |
