Show FATAL RAILROAD ACCIDEXT. FIVE PERSONS KILLED. (Special to tho Herald.) Reno, 15. A serious accident occurred oc-curred night before last to the express passenger train bound cast. Owing to an imperfect wheel the tender of tho entries was thrown from the track, about an eighth of a mile the other sido nf Trunk ri and went riown on embankment of twenty-five feet followed fol-lowed by the baggage, mail, and express ex-press cars, all of them being completely wrecked. In these cars were six persons, per-sons, employes of the train. Four of them were instantly killed. The fifth, Mr. M. Miner, was fatally injured, his rieht thigh being smashed in a horrible hor-rible manner. The train boy was slightly injured. The remainder of the cars were stopped, so that no passengers passen-gers were injured and no further damage dam-age was done to the train. Those killed were D. G. Marshall, conductor, who jumped from the baggage car upon the first shock and, being caught between be-tween the ground and a car platform, plat-form, was cut com pletdy in two just above the thighs; Mr. Hank, postal agent, whose head was terribly crushed, leaviog nothiog but t' e face; Van SVormer, messenger for W. F. & Co., and Captain Taylor, express guard. The bodies were taken to Sacramento Sac-ramento for burial. The track was badly torn up, but a large force of repairers re-pairers were at once put to work so that tho road is now in order. Tho train last passed here some fifteen hours late. |
