Show Pobk and Mutton. A visitor to the city market yesterday, if he, or she, inspected the stalls, saw an array of beef, pork, and mutton equal in quality'to any Christmas exhibition of meats in any city in tho Union. The mutton was particularly fins, the carcasses car-casses of two sheep imported from Canada being of very superior quality, while "valley tan" mutton nearly equalled it. Two huge porkers adorn ed the stallf Mr. Garrett, tho largest of which weighed, dressed, nearly 1,000 pounds. These pigs were raised by Mr. Jennings, are of the Chester-white Chester-white breed, and were only two years old last September. The mutton referred re-ferred to, as well as some of the finest beef in the market, also came from thc farm of Mr. Jennings. |
