Show Fai.se Alarms Two false alarms i of fire were given last evening; the i first being occasioned by a rush of ! smoke from the southeast corner of the theatre basement. Upon investigation investiga-tion it was found that the smoke proceeded from a stove in the music room, in which a fire had been recently lighted, the smoke from which persisted in coming out of the stove door instead of poing up tho chimney as all well regulated smoke should do Tne alarm gathered quite a crowd, and the fire brigade were promptly on hand "wid der marchine," ' but fortunately their services wsre not required. The other alarm was occasioned by the bonfire lighted on Emigration square, to test tbe Gardner Firo Extinguisher. |
