The committee of the society of Dr. Chapio's ohnrch, in view of the large numbers who wish to attend the funeral of Greeley, have do-cided do-cided to issue tickets ef admission to the church. The order of services comprises addretecs by Rov. Henry Ward Beechcr and Dr. Chapin. The citizens of Brook lyn have already started subscriptions to raise twenty-five twenty-five thousand dollars for a monument to the memory of Greeley, It is estimated esti-mated the funeral procession will be over two miles long. The list of pall bearers, it is understood, includes the names of Vice-President Colfax, secretary secre-tary Boutwell, William Lloyd Garrison, Garri-son, chief justice Chase, Chas. Sumner, Sum-ner, Wm. CuIIcd Bryant, and one or two of the ''Tribune" attaches. It is also stated that general Baoks and Thurlow Weed will be among the pall bearers, the latter at his own request. Th 3 City Hall park has been crowded with thousands of people since nine o'clook endeavoring endeavor-ing to view the remains of Greeley lying in Etato in tho governor's room, and although the crowd files by at a wonderful rate, there seems no diminution dimi-nution in the throng pressing forward hich runs back for squares. No such universal testimony of public esteem has been shown since Lincoln's remains lay in state hero. Flags are everywhere at h. If mast. Crowds are arriving by trains and steamboats from adjacent cities. The city ball is draped in mourning and over tho main entrance en-trance hangs the inscription, "Wo remember re-member with prido his busy life." Many distinguished citiions from abroad have arrived to join the funeral ceremonies. The courts will adjourn over Thursday. |
